Koldinghus is a 750-year-old royal castle and the perfect setting to relive the history of the Danish monarchy. Over the centuries, Koldinghus has served many functions, including as a fortress, royal residence, ruin, museum, and meeting place for numerous battles and negotiations. There have been times of glory and times of decline.

The Whispers of History
Skamlingsbanken
Skamlingsbanken is renowned for its stunning natural beauty and its significant historical narrative.
At 113 meters above sea level, it is also the highest point in Southern Jutland. From here, you can gaze over the Little Belt and far into the heart of Southern Jutland.
Historically, Skamlingsbanken is famous for the folk festivals held between 1843-1859 in support of the Danish part of Southern Jutland. In 1863, a 16-meter-high monument was erected to honor the Danish fighters in Schleswig. However, the following year, it was blown up by the Prussians. Locals had gathered and preserved the stones, so the monument was rebuilt in 1866. It still stands today on Højskamlingen and is well worth a visit, especially for its fascinating history.
Guided tours are also available, but must be booked in advance.
